Meet The Doctor
Priscilla M Walsh, DDS, MSc, FRCD(C), FCDS(BC)
Dr. Walsh is a Canadian board certified specialist in periodontics. She completed both her undergraduate degree in Science and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Alberta (1996). After working as a general dentist she decided to pursue the specialty of periodontics at the University of British Columbia (2000). She has received numerous awards in the field of dentistry as well as the Kathleen McAnulty scholarship which recognizes excellence in periodontics.
In 2001 she joined a specialty practice in North Vancouver. She was fortunate to work for 20 years with inspiring mentors who were keen to share their vast knowledge and experience in both periodontics and prosthodontics. Dr. Walsh now has the opportunity to carry on their shared tradition of continued learning and specialized care in her own clinic.
Dr. Walsh’s practice incorporates all aspects of periodontal treatment including treatment of gum recession, implant treatment to replace missing teeth, and the management of periodontal disease. Other aspects of her practice involve oral cancer screening, soft tissue biopsies, and cuspid exposures. State of the art technology including digital scanning and cone beam CT scanning help to facilitate accurate treatment for patients with reduced stress. Microsurgical techniques are often employed to facilitate a speedy recovery.
Dr. Walsh is a clinical instructor at UBC and also works with the British Columbia Children’s Hospital Dental Department as a consulting periodontist. Dr. Walsh is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a fellow of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, a member of the Canadian Dental Association and the American Academy of Periodontology. She is a current member and past-president of the British Columbia Society of Periodontists. Dr. Walsh is well-published in the field of gingival disorders as well as systemic diseases associated with periodontal disease.
At present, Dr. Walsh is a member of the Sea to Sky Dental Seminars group and was a member of the VIP study club for 19 years.
Patient care is an important part of Dr. Walsh’s time, however, she also loves spending time with her husband and their two (very busy) children. She enjoys running half marathons and is in continual pursuit of a better golf game.
